Our goal is to ensure that every animal is placed in a loving, safe, and permanent home. The following steps outline our adoption process from start to finish:

Foster

Application Submission

Interested adopters complete an Adoption Application (online or paper form).

The application collects information about the applicant’s home, lifestyle, experience with pets, and preferences (breed, age, energy level, etc.).

Application Review

Rescue staff or volunteers review the application.
Personal, veterinary, and landlord references (if applicable) are verified.
The rescue ensures that the applicant understands the foster-to-adopt terms and expectations.

Meet and Greet

A meet-and-greet is arranged between the applicant and the animal.
If the applicant has other pets, introductions are discussed or arranged in a controlled environment.
Both parties decide if they would like to proceed with the foster-to-adopt placement.

Agreement and Deposit

The applicant signs a Foster-to-Adopt Agreement, outlining responsibilities during the trial period.
An adoption deposit of 50% of the adoption fee is collected upfront and held until the adoption is finalized. The final 50% is collected at the time the adoption is finalized. The deposit will be returned if the foster and/or the rescue decides it's not a good fit.
The rescue remains the legal owner of the animal during the foster-to-adopt period.

Trial Foster Period

The animal is placed in the adopter’s home for a trial period (typically 1–4 weeks, depending on the rescue’s policy).
The adopter provides care, socialization, and integration into the home.
The rescue stays in regular contact to provide support, answer questions, and monitor the adjustment.

Post-Adoption Support

The rescue provides follow-up communication after the adoption is finalized to ensure a smooth transition.
Adopters can reach out for training advice, behavioral support, or medical guidance if needed.

Decision and Adoption Finalization

After the foster-to-adopt period:
If the match is successful, the adopter signs the official adoption contract, and ownership of the animal is transferred.
The adoption fee (or deposit) becomes final at that time.
If the adopter decides the match isn’t right, the animal is returned to the rescue, and the deposit may be refunded (depending on policy).

Veterinary Care and Expenses

The rescue continues to cover pre-approved veterinary care during the trial period.
The adopter agrees to contact the rescue before seeking any medical treatment unless it’s an emergency.
Routine care and supplies (food, toys, etc.) may be provided by either party as outlined in the agreement.

Home Check

A home visit (virtual or in-person) ensures that the environment is safe and suitable for the animal.
This includes checking fencing, indoor space, and the overall setup for the animal’s comfort and security.

Interview

A phone or in-person interview is scheduled to discuss the responsibilities of fostering, expectations, and available support.
The rescue answers any questions and clarifies the time commitment, type of animals, and typical foster duration.

Home Visit

A home check (virtual or in-person) is conducted to ensure the environment is safe and appropriate for foster animals.
The team looks for hazards, escape routes, and suitable spaces for housing the animal.

Approval and Agreement Signing

Once approved, the foster receives the Foster Agreement to review and sign.
This agreement outlines the foster’s responsibilities, rescue’s obligations, and terms of care, liability, and return policies.
A copy of the signed agreement is kept on file by both the rescue and the foster.

The rescue matches the foster with an appropriate animal based on experience, comfort level, and household setup.

Regular updates, photos, and progress reports are shared with the rescue for adoption promotion and medical records.

Program Follow-Up

Feedback from fosters is encouraged to help improve the program and strengthen the rescue’s foster network.

Adoption or Return

When the animal is ready for adoption, the foster helps with meet-and-greets and provides feedback on temperament and behavior.
Once adopted, the foster may assist with the transition or temporarily continue care until the adoption is finalized.
If the foster can no longer care for the animal, they must return it to the rescue safely—never to a third party.
